As an HR executive at HML’s Koney Rubber Estate, my role goes far beyond administrative functions. At the core of HML and the RPG Group lies a deep commitment to Happiness, a guiding principle that has significantly shaped my journey both professionally and personally. The philosophy of prioritising employee happiness is not a mere tagline, it is a way of life that defines how we engage with each other, create meaningful bond and achieve collective success.

From the beginning, I have been inspired by our Chairman’s vision of ensuring the well-being and happiness of every employee. This belief has empowered me to create and lead various employee engagement initiatives in our estate, all of which aim to put people first. Our work focuses on building a culture where employees feel valued and appreciated - a mission that has deeply resonated with me on a personal level.

Designing and executing People Initiatives that touch not just employees but also their families and the larger community, has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my role. Over the past two years, I have seen a tangible shift in the mindset of our employees, who now actively participate in and contribute ideas for our engagement activities. Witnessing this change firsthand fills me with a profound sense of fulfillment, knowing that our efforts have fostered a positive work environment and a proactive Industrial Relations (IR) climate. The rising Happiness Scores year after year is a testament to our collective success.

On a personal level, being part of a team that prioritises happiness has shaped my own journey in ways that words can barely capture. It has been deeply rewarding to witness the positive impact of our efforts on the lives of our employees and their families. Recognition from my superiors and the trust they place in me have only added to my sense of purpose and joy in my work.

I am proud to be part of this journey and to contribute to a community that thrives on genuine engagement, compassion, and a shared commitment to happiness. This happiness brings better results in the workplace.
